Toothache

Well I’m all moved in. I haven’t done much unpacking or setting in yet as I’ve had to endure nearly unbearable pain due to a wisdom tooth. Luckily I got in to the dentist today and I’m all drugged up on Vicodin ES. The tooth comes out Friday.

I FINALLY have Internet at home, too, but haven’t been in the mood to do much on it either. I’m on my 4th Vicodin for today and I’m feeling better, so hopefully I’ll be able to get back into the swing of things by tomorrow; go grocery shopping, unpack, stuff like that.

Going Away Party

I’ll be having a Going Away From Grand Rapids party:

Paul’s Going Away Party
Saturday November 26
Friday’s Downtown Grand Rapids

Eight O’Clock Post Meridian

Be there.

Finally

Finally on track for the Exodus out of GR. Lease signing day is tomorrow. Apparently this whole thing was a miscommunication on the part of management that I got caught in the middle of. So again, everyone’s forgiven for pissing me off. Especially Brenda Ruhlman, because she ended up being the one to help me out with it instead of trying to stall it. She was just pissed at my new boss. Politics. Fun.

Anyway, internet at home is about a week away… I gotta go plunk down $300 for prorated rent/cable/security deposit tomorrow and then (drumroll) I’ll have an address again!! Hallelujah!

I’m glad everything worked out. Now there’s 1 more going away party for Angie and Matt I have to survive tonight in South Bend… that should be fun!

I talked to Adam today. It was… short. I need to get my mail from him, and I’d like to see him. It’s been almost a month! Weird how we haven’t gone that long without seeing each other since we met. Weird that it hasn’t been hard to. Oh well. Seasons change.

I still need to get Divide, probably will end up eating noodles all week so I can afford it. I miss Casey, too!

That’s all for now. I’ve got to go help my Grandma Pellerito pick out a Medicare part D plan.

Forgiveness

Ok. Since I’m more pissed off at 1 person that I’ve ever been in my life, I’ve decided to forgive everyone else for anything I’ve ever held against them.

Blanket amnesty begins today. You’re all forgiven. That includes Adam, and my dad.

Breaking News

This just in:
Rush Hour 2 Is The New Crack.

Who?

I sweartagawd the next person who comes up to me and I don’t recognize I’m going to say

RHV is here

Thank God for… HOUSE MUSIC. This is the only thing keeping me happy today. Grey, rainy day. Finally thought I had a place to live and a permanent store, and now WORK IS DICKING ME AROUND AGAIN. I’m cussing out anyone who calls me on the phone today. I woke up pissed off, it’s that bad.

It’s good to be needed, but geez… I need an apartment…

Update

Found a place in Kalamazoo… still don’t have regular internet and I’m flat ass broke.

Nowhere left to go but up.

This is one of the reasons why I like having a phonecam. Wonderful things like this happen and I don’t always have a camera. My regular DSC was out of battery anyhow, so the RAZR came in handy.

This lady looks like she’s probably homeless. She came in to the cafe, had a tea, and drew for about 2 hours. Lovely, painstakingly detailed pen-and-ink drawings of horses. I had to get a picture.

A big congrats to Casey on the eve of his release!

less angry

I’m feeling much less angry today.

Here’s a great article in Salon I read a few weeks back.

“What if you lived all by yourself, and what if you didn’t want or couldn’t have a relationship, and you were just lonely, and you just wanted to feel that contact?” he says. “You can’t possibly identify with that person because you’ve never been in that situation. To feel contact, to feel a body next to you, is a human need.”

quote for tonight

From one of my favorite PJ songs (get it here)

“I don?t want to limp for them to walk…
Never would have known of me before…
I don?t want to be held in your debt…
And I?ll pay it off in blood, let I be wed…
And I?m already cut up and half dead…
I?ll end up alone like I began…”

I’m already cut up and half dead… I’ll end up alone like I began…

Quick Update

The Last Three Months In A Nutshell

1.) Got job offer for Holland Store
2.) Lease ended.
3.) Agreed to stay with Adam on a temporary basis, until Holland job was smoothed out.
4.) Got fucked over by person who didn’t even make job offer because he’s a worthless homophobe.
5.) Stayed with Adam August, September, October.
6.) Adam kicked me out.
7.) Adam said “You’ll never be able to give anyone else what I gave to you.”
8.) Went to Muncie.
9.) Brooded over that statement.
10 a.) Had revelation that Adam gave me lots of things, but a.) it wasn’t ever what I really wanted from him b.) most everything he gave me he’s either taken away (kicked me out) or plans to (cancelling my sprint phone).
10 b.) Also realized that Adam must just be too young to know what “giving” really means.
11.) Came back from Muncie feeling unwelcome.
12.) Slept on the floor. Pondered sleeping in my car.
13.) Apologized to Adam, but got mad all over again.
14.) Moved in with Angie.
15.) Grandpa Pellerito died.
16.) Flew to California, drove back.
17.) Got my own damned phone in my own name.
18.) Felt free of Adam and more like myself.
19.) Offered job in Kalamazoo.
20.) Remembered that a true friend won’t ever point out what he or she did for you but rather makes it a priority to enumerate the things that you have done for him or her.
21.) Finally the majority of my things into Angie’s and at my dad’s.
22.) Took job offer in Kalamazoo.
23.) Starting November 27.
24.) No more treading water.

WELCOME TO MICHIGAN

Finally home! All my pictures are on Flickr. I got some shots of OK and MO but then it got dark. We bypassed St Louis via 270 so I didn’t get to see the arch. I’d seen it before anyhow and I assume it’s the same. At any rate, I just wanted to get the hell home. No pictures of Indiana as it was night time, I was just there last weekend, and it’s boring. But whew, what a trip! Day three was Oklahoma City to Detroit Metro Airport via St. Louis and Indianapolis.
The most striking thing about the whole trip was the noted homogeneity of Roadside America, at least the route we took. Every fast food place looked nearly the same, and we didn’t really see any local color at all. Granted, Matthew was driving and it was the route he chose, but we didn’t see any of the fabled Route 66 stuff. It makes me sad. I fear an America that looks all the same, but it’s happening sooner rather than later.
Day 3: 1,042 miles. 19 hours.

Total trip 3 days, 2,377 miles and 40 hours driving.
Here’s our route:

day 2

Flickr is funky right now. I’ve put pictures up and was starting to move them to the set. But they’re there nonetheless.

Today was the in-between day. We drove through the rest of Arizona, straight across New Mexico, the panhandle of Texas and to Oklahoma city. It being the in-between day, it was pretty much like The Empire Strikes Back or The Two Towers, in that nothing much happens except that the characters are advanced along the way towards their final destination.

861 miles, about 13 hours.
